Black & White Cane Glass Bead Necklace
Friday, November 20th, 2009You will need:
1m Black 1mm waxed cotton cord
15 Black & White Cane Glass Beads with large holes
1 trigger clasp in black
2 6mm jump rings in black
2 5mm crimp covers in black
Thread the largest of your chosen beads halfway onto the cord, then pass the cord through the bad a second time and pull tight. Add each bead the same way leaving a gap of approx 5cm in between each one – the easiest way to make sure your beads are evenly spaced is to position the bead between our 3rd and 4th fingers, then thread the next bead on and hold with your forefinger and thumb whilst you pass the cord through a second time.
To finish, add a jump ring and tie a small knot, pulling it tight. Then cover with a crimp cover, or you could put a drop of superglue on the knot and not use a crimp cover. Add a trigger clasp to one of the jump rings.
This alos looks great with our multi-coloured cane glass beads.
Cane Glass Bead Earrings
Tuesday, October 6th, 2009If you find a pair of matching cane glass beads you can make a pair of earrings. The mix of beads we send you is so random that it’s unusual to find a pair unless you order a large quantity, so don’t expect to find a pair!
Earrings are really easy to make – take two headpins and add a 3mm spacer bead, then your focal cane glass bead, another spacer, then a larger spacer bead perhaps in a complimentary colour then top with a final spacer bead. Make a loop with your round nosed pliers and add an earring hook. Repeat for your second earring.
All the findings you need are available on the Globaholic website, and you can follow the link on each item above.
Cane Glass Bead Elasticated Bracelet
Tuesday, October 6th, 2009Using an elasticated silver plated chain bracelet, sometimes known as bungee bracelets, we made this pretty bracelet using beads from our new range of Cane Glass Beads.
Make 13 charms using thin hard headpins and some 3mm metal spacer beads, then add them to your bracelet – what could be simpler, and yet so effective? It looks even better on!

1m plastic coated beading wire
1 T-bar toggle fastening
2 crimps and 2 crimp covers
26 Cane Glass Beads
60 3mm spacer beads
8 Large metal beads
6 Indian Glass Nuggets
12 small metal beads (10mm)
20 Indian Glass 6mm round beads
Make the necklace by adding one end of the t-bar fastener to the tigertail, making a loop and securing with a crimp and crimp cover. Thread the beads on, adding a 3mm spacer bead between each bead. Trim to the correct length, then add the other end of the t-bar fastener in the same way as you did at the beginning to finish. Use the same method to make the matching bracelet, using a 30cm length of tiger tail.
Cane Glass Beads at Globaholic
Monday, October 5th, 2009
We are now selling Cane Glass Beads in a range of colours and shapes. These colourful beads are really gorgeous – use them in necklaces, earrings or bracelets. Make them into charms and add them to a chain bracelet. The possibilities are endless.
Cane Glass Beads, which are sometimes known as Furnace Glass, are handmade using traditional techniques. The beads are formed by fusing lots of small canes of coloured glass into a larger decorated rod, which is then fired and cut to size. The results are vibrant colour-lined and pinstriped glass beads in a variety of shapes and sizes. The beads are sold in packs of 25g, which gives between 10 and 14 beads depending on their size. Each pack may contain matching beads, but don’t expect them!
We will be designing new pieces over the next few days, so keep an eye on our blog to see what we come up with!
